MF Doom - Operation Doomsday

And it began with Daniel Dumile (Zev Love X from the group KMD) returning to the hip-hop scene after a 4 year hiatus. Inspired by the Marvel Comic super-villain character of Doctor Doom, he reinvented himself as MF Doom. Dumile had lost his younger brother and collaborator DJ Subroc in a tragic accident and as part of the coping process, returned to the music world with a different persona. After releasing a few 12"s on Fondle 'Em Records, MF Doom dropped his debut album under this moniker entitled "Operation Doomsday" in 1999. This classic album introduced us to this villain along with some of his crew collectively known as the Monsta Island Czars.
